Meet My Horses
Dalvangs Lorenzo
Lorenzo
I have had Lorenzo since he was a nervous 16h unbacked 6 year old and he is now 17 years old and standing at almost 17’2h. He is now a Grand Prix horse with both Regional and National Titles from Elementary upwards. We are out competing at Grand Prix with plans to go to Premier Leagues at this new level.
I spent the first few years letting him grow into himself. Competing was introduced slowly as he was scared of his own shadow! I had to spend a lot of time showing him the world. I’m very lucky that my mum gave him to me. She realised quickly that he was a bit too nervous and lazy for her - she likes hot horses! (each to their own) I am forever grateful I get to train with my mum, Zoe Sopp, ex International rider. We also train with Alice Oppenhimer and Anna Ross.
Lorenzo loves to roll around in the field and gets covered in mud all the time! I then have the joyful battle when it comes to grooming. He hates being brushed and is a little bit sensitive so you have to use the softest of bushes.
He is a huge worrier and gets anxiety over everything, I have to be very patient with him. He also has a lot of attitude at times, as much as I find this entertaining it is also annoying! Lorenzo is such a kind and caring horse who is always happy and loving life. He likes to test my patience now and again but my love for him is unconditional.
Summer 2019 we started our Small Tour career at the Hickstead Dressage Masters Pre St George Championships, this is where Lorenzo and I were Reserve Champion overall.
In our first year we were selected for our first International at Keysoe CDI3* International (March 2020). It was a big step up for us and both! We both gained so much experience from it, and to finish in the top 10 with a couple of spooks was something to be proud of.
He is the 2019 Midway PSG Champion, 2019 double Advanced Medium Silver Region Champion, 2018 Medium Silver Freestyle Winter Champion and he is also 2017 Elementary Regionals and National Champion. We also represented Team Southern BD Youth (formerly known as BYRDS) and had huge success.
Lorenzo and I were the un25 Home International Elementary Champions in 2016, Reserve Champions at the un25s A squad Inter Regionals in 2016 scoring 85% - 90% in the Rider tests. Lorenzo and I finished our BD Youth career in 2017 with a win at the un25s A Squad Inter Regionls.
Dasset Quick Fix
Toby
Toby is 18 year old 16’1h Irish Sports Horse owned by Linda Bitmead - my lovely long term competition livery.
Linda has owned Toby for about three years now. He originally started off with Zoe Sopp (my mum) competing him, I took over the ride two years ago due to my Mum’s lack of time.
Toby is such a lovely, kind and caring boy and always tries his hardest. I have trained him to Advanced Medium and have also started PSG work.
We are hoping to start competing Advance Medium and qualifying for summer Regionals.
He is Mr. Cool, very laid-back but knows how to spark up for the occasion!
Toby isn’t exactly built for dressage but with establishing his basic training, I ride a really accurate test to ensure I don’t give any marks away - this is where we get our marks from and he has a mega medium trot! Toby just brings so much joy to the competition arena and that’s what I love about him. I am always smiling when riding Toby, I just can’t help it!
His owner Linda has lessons weekly on him and she spoils him rotten, he deserves every bit of it! We all love him so very much.
